This type has an I layer between the P and N layers to decrease the capacitance between terminals, principally for use in applications that require fast response. The HPI-23G and HPI-6FFR4 are ideal as detectors for use in optical fiber transmission and light transmission through space such as in remote control. They can also be used as elements to receive modulated light, as in photoelectric switches.
